Hatha yoga is a fun physical fitness activity for almost anyone. Children are no exception. Two books that are a great choice as well as beloved by children are Yoga Bug and and Yoga Bunny. These classic board books teach children basic yoga poses with adorable illustrations.

Yoga Bunny
The first book Yoga Bunny by Brian Russo is about an adorable bunny trying to get his friends to join him for yoga.
Bunny awakes and sees it is a beautiful day for yoga. As he begins his first little stretch, other just as adorable animals cross his path. With each friend that strolls by he invites them to join him for his morning yoga session. Each friend has an excuse as to why they will not join him.
Not to worry the friends do eventually join him. In the mean time Bunny learns how to deal with his disappointment when his friends reject his yoga invite.
The yoga poses are effortlessly integrated into the story with Bunny demonstrating each one.
As an example : Bunny was disappointed but he took a deep breath, placed his hands on the ground and stepped backward, and lifted his hips high up in the air, coming into downward dog. Names of the poses are highlighted in the passages.
Yoga Bunny is a cute book teaching kids yoga and dealing with disappointment. Recommended ages for this book are 2-4 years but slightly older kids will like it too.

Yoga Bug
The second book is Yoga Bug Simple poses for Little Ones by Sarah Jane Hinder. This popular book is not a story like Yoga Bunny. Instead it is colorful drawings of simple yoga poses related to bugs/insects.
Yoga Bug introduces children to yoga with simple poses they can do, featuring colorful drawings that catch the eye of little ones. The book consists of ten poses, each related to a bug and accompanied by a short rhyme. For example, Dancer’s pose represents a lightning bug, paired with the rhyme: Shine and sparkle, twinkle toes. Two cute drawings illustrate this pose: one shows a child in the pose, and the next page depicts the bug in the corresponding yoga pose.

Yoga Bug is sure to delight children ages 1-3. Although from personal experience older children have fun with this book also.
To conclude, both books are an excellent addition to any yoga library. Additionally, children and adults are sure to find these fun and entertaining ways to explore yoga.
